Today’s Cryptocurrency Price: Crypto markets rose for the second day in a row on Thursday, August 25, on news that the date for Ethereum’s upgrade, The Merger, had been confirmed. Ether jumped more than 4 percent in the past 24 hours, while Bitcoin, Polkadot, Solana and Shiba Inu made modest gains. Despite the positive outlook, investors remain on their toes for Fed chief Jerome Powell’s speech on monetary policy later this week and his views on further rate hikes.

The global cryptocurrency market was trading slightly higher by 2.10 percent on the day, and scaled $1.05 trillion at the time of writing, data from CoinMarketCap shows. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other major crypto coins have made modest to modest gains over the past 24 hours.

Bitcoin was priced at $21,734.58 today at the time of writing this article, up 1.66 percent in the past 24 hours, data from CoinMarketCap shows. In the last seven days, Bitcoin price has decreased by 12.04 percent.

Bitcoin and Ethereum rose ahead of the Federal Economic Symposium meetup. BTC broke past its key resistance level at US$21,500 in the last 24 hours. This short reversal can keep buyers active in the market,” said Edul Patel, CEO and co-founder of Mudrex.

Ether, on the other hand, crossed the $1700 mark today, up 4.16 percent to $1,707.14 at the time of writing, data from CoinMarketCap shows.

“On the other hand, the Ethereum Foundation has released new information about the upcoming upgrade, which indicates that all preparations are going smoothly. The announcement confirmed that the upgrade will be completed between September 10 and 20. This announcement may give market players a bit of confidence going forward,” added Patel.

“After years of work, Ethereum’s proof-of-stake upgrade is finally here! The successful upgrade of all public testnets is now complete, and the merge is scheduled for the Ethereum mainnet,” the Ethereum Foundation said in a blog post on Wednesday.
