BrahMos Missile Report: First Delivery Expected to Philippines Next Year | world news

Moscow: The first deliveries of BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines will begin in 2023, said Alexander Maksichev, co-director of the joint Russian-Indian venture BrahMos Aerospace, according to local media. The USD 375-million contract to supply BrahMos missiles to the Philippines was reached in January and is the first export contract for BrahMos Aerospace, according to Russian news agency Sputnik.

“The delivery of the first missiles will begin in 2023. These will be missiles for coastal defense, a coastal missile system,” Maksichev said.

According to the company, BrahMos Aerospace was founded in 1998 and specializes in manufacturing cruise missiles and supporting equipment, such as launchers and missile guidance systems.

The joint Indian-Russian venture was named after the Brahmaputra and Moscow rivers. Meanwhile, Brahmos Aerospace Deputy CEO Sanjeev Joshi has received the World Disaster Management Congress for Disaster Risk Reduction during the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2021.
