Iran has freedom of expression, but the protests now taking place are unacceptable “acts of chaos”, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi said on Thursday, adding that he had ordered an investigation into the death of a young woman who sparked the bloody protests.

“Rights issues must be treated with a single standard around the world,” Raisi told a news conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

“There is freedom of expression in Iran… but acts of disorder are unacceptable.”
