The UK says it is unclear how Russia will deploy more troops

LONDON: Britain’s Ministry of Defense said on Sunday that it was not yet clear how Russia would achieve the massive increase it announced in its armed forces, but that the boost was unlikely to significantly increase its combat power in Ukraine.
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree last week increasing the size of Russia’s armed forces from 1.9 million to 2.04 million as the war in Ukraine enters its seventh month.
The UK Ministry of Defense said in its regular updates on the war that it was not clear whether this would be achieved by recruiting more volunteers or by increasing recruitment.
Either way it likely won’t have a major impact on the war in Ukraine because “Russia has lost thousands of troops; very few new contract troops are being recruited; and recruits are technically not obligated to operate outside Russian territory,” the ministry said on Twitter.
